The shipyard in Finland has completed the world’s biggest cruise ship, a mammoth vessel. Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas is scheduled to sail in early 2024. It has embarked on its sea trials and is expected to undergo further testing before its grand debut.
The world’s largest cruise ship measures 20 decks high, is 365 meters long (1,200 feet long), and weighs 250,800 gross tonnes. It is expected to carry 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members. It’s like having two CN Towers afloat.
This mini-floating city is planning to sail year-round and offer seven-night Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises out of Miami.
Icon of the Seas: Embark on the Ultimate Adventure with the World’s Largest Waterpark and Unparalleled Entertainment at Sea
The most remarkable feature offered by Royal Caribbean International’s ‘Icon of the Seas’ will be the world’s largest waterpark at sea, named Category 6. The waterpark offers six record-breaking water slides along with a more leisurely experience of seven pools and nine whirlpools.
The grandest of all cruise ships will additionally be home to a performance venue called the AquaDome, perched atop the ship with a remarkable ocean view. Moreover, it offers a “chill island” pool deck, which features a swim-up bar and a waterfall for guests to dine on.
The Icon of the Seas boasts that it will collectively house more than 40 restaurants, cafes, bars, and nightlife locales, as well as 20 total decks. Its lounge includes a two-story “Coastal Kitchen” and a Central Park.
The idea of the ship is to cater to every type of vacationer, from young families to adults. Royal Caribbean International’s first duelling piano bar is dedicated especially to adults. The cruise line dedicated their time to creating the perfect home design, with 28 ways to stay on the ship.
The accommodation layouts are intended for families of three, four, five, and more. The Family Infinite Balcony and Surfside Family Suite feature children’s alcoves. Moreover, there will be a three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse, along with a white picket fence and mailbox. Some of the best rooms on board will be the Sunset Corner Suites and Panoramic Ocean Views.
Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it the world’s first cruise ship to use this eco-friendly technology. The innovative use of LNG showcases the company’s dedication to sustainable practices.
