Residents of the Capital witnessed the launch of this innovative service over the past weekend. As the driver waits for passengers to board for a journey. This three-carriage, air-conditioned electric vehicle chimes at predetermined stops along popular routes.

ART System

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT)’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) is the organisation in Abu Dhabi. That manages the ART service, a rail-less vehicle that is typically characterised as combining elements of a bus and a tram. Yas Island and Saadiyat Island were the first to receive it. And now it is beginning to serve the mainland. The ARTs are currently running along Zayed the First Street. Also known as Electra Street, between Reem Mall and Marina Mall. Emission-free service on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Capacity of 200 Passengers

Up to 200 passengers can ride in the cutting-edge electric cars in Abu Dhabi, improving sustainable urban mobility. With soft seats, straps for standing passengers, panoramic windows, and digital stop notifications. The seating configurations are comparable to those in the Dubai Metro. It smoothly changes lanes, just like a typical bus for public transportation. The ART stops at ordinary public bus terminals. where there are specific stations for them in some places.

Environment Friendly

To discover a vehicle that resembles a Dubai tram operating there. Without any special rails or alterations to the city’s street infrastructure. “This truly caught me off guard. It has been there for a few days now. It resembles a combination of a bus, tram, train, and metro. I have usually observed it in operation in the morning and afternoon, according to longtime resident Patrick Ohana.

Essentially, trackless trams on wheels, these ARTs currently connect Reem Mall and Marina Mall through popular destinations like the Galleria Al Maryah Island, Marina Square, Sheikh Hazza Bin Sultan Mosque, the iconic Qasr Al Hosn, Khalidiya Park, the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, Sheikha Fatima Park, Corniche, hospitals like NMC Specialty and LLH, and hotels like City Seasons Al Hamra, Sheraton Al Khalidiya and Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi.
